The Emirati football club Al Jazira has officially appointed Houcine Ammouta as their new head coach, marking a significant step for the team’s future. The announcement was made on Monday via the club’s social media platform “X.”
Al Jazira confirmed that Ammouta has signed a contract to lead the first team until 2026. The Moroccan coach will start his tenure with the team during their pre-season training camp in Spain this July.
Ammouta is no stranger to Emirati football, having played for Sharjah Club during the 2002-2003 season. His career then saw him achieve success in Qatar with Al Sadd, both as a player and a coach.
Before joining Al Jazira, Ammouta made a significant impact as the head coach of the Jordanian national team. He led the “Nashama” to their first-ever final in the AFC Asian Cup held in Qatar. Additionally, he secured Jordan’s qualification for the upcoming 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia and guided them to the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, set to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
