The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is launching a new chapter in its educational mission with the opening of a dedicated cybersecurity branch at its College of Computing in Rabat. As global demand for cybersecurity experts continues to grow, UM6P aims to position itself as a leader in digital defense education, addressing Morocco’s needs while supporting talent development across Africa and beyond.
Located at UM6P’s Rabat campus, this new branch intends to become a center of excellence in cybersecurity education. The program spans three years and is available to students with two or three years of post-secondary education, particularly those from preparatory classes and bachelor’s programs. Students can enter the College of Computing either directly after high school or by transferring in the third year, with a rigorous selection process for both campuses.
The cybersecurity track complements UM6P’s existing offerings in artificial intelligence and machine learning at its Benguerir campus, creating two specialized hubs for advanced computing. The entrance examination for the cybersecurity program will open in June 2025, allowing prospective students to apply to this pioneering field.
In addition to training future digital leaders, UM6P’s College of Computing offers a dynamic learning environment equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including the university’s supercomputer, “UM6P Toubkal.” This infrastructure enables students to explore theoretical foundations and real-world applications under the mentorship of a dedicated academic community—32 professors, 91 doctoral candidates, and 239 enrolled students—who are committed to advancing digital sciences.
“We are thrilled to launch this new branch in Rabat,” said Rachid Guerraoui, President of the Steering Committee for the College of Computing. “This expansion reaffirms our commitment to developing high-level expertise in strategic digital fields like cybersecurity. By establishing two centers of excellence—one in artificial intelligence and machine learning in Benguerir and the other in cybersecurity in Rabat—we aim to equip the next generation of digital leaders capable of meeting the challenges of Morocco’s digital future and driving transformation across Africa.”
With this new cybersecurity branch, UM6P continues to reinforce its mission to cultivate digital expertise and empower students to lead in the fast-evolving tech landscape, shaping the future of the digital economy in Morocco and beyond.
