The global leader in polymer solutions, Trelleborg, officially broke ground on its new industrial facility at Midparc, Casablanca on December 17, 2024. This state-of-the-art plant will specialize in manufacturing advanced sealing systems for the aerospace sector, marking a significant step forward for Morocco’s growing aviation industry.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together notable officials, including Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Governor of Nouaceur Province Jalal Benhayoun, and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Taoufik Moucharraf. Other key figures such as Salmane Belayachi, Director-General of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Investment Center (CRI), Gordon Roper, President of Trelleborg’s Aerospace Business Unit, and Hamid Benbrahim Andaloussi, President of Midparc, also attended.
With an investment of nearly 106 million dirhams (10.2 million euros), this project is set to generate 150 to 200 jobs once operational. More importantly, it will strengthen Morocco’s local aerospace value chain, aligning with the nation’s strategy to boost local integration rates in the sector.
The initiative is part of the broader Boeing ecosystem development in Morocco and follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Moroccan government and Trelleborg at the Marrakech Air Show 2024, held from October 30 to November 3, 2024.
During the event, Minister Ryad Mezzour emphasized the importance of this project, stating: “This facility introduces a new capability that will significantly enhance Morocco’s integration into the global aerospace supply chain. It will boost the competitiveness of local suppliers while creating highly skilled jobs.”
Mezzour further highlighted the investment as a historic milestone, particularly in strengthening Morocco’s partnership with Swedish aerospace companies and Boeing. He noted: “This project marks a key step in opening Morocco’s aerospace market to Swedish companies and reinforces Boeing’s sourcing from local players in the sector.”
The establishment of Trelleborg’s new plant reflects Morocco’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a premier hub for aerospace manufacturing. By attracting world-class companies like Trelleborg, the kingdom continues to create a favorable ecosystem for technology transfer, job creation, and economic growth.
