The ‘Lycée Technique Mohammed VI’ in Marrakech has taken a major step towards sustainability with the inauguration of a solar power station, thanks to an initiative led by Fondation Banque Populaire. This project will not only reduce the school’s energy footprint but also help raise awareness among students about environmental challenges and renewable energy solutions.

The inauguration event, held in Marrakech, brought together key figures from the education and sustainable development sectors. Attendees included the Director of the Marrakech-Safi Provincial Education Delegation, the President of the Executive Board of Banque Populaire Marrakech-Béni Mellal, as well as teachers, local authorities, and representatives from Fondation Banque Populaire.

At the heart of the initiative is a solar station equipped with 104 photovoltaic panels, designed to provide the high school with clean energy and significantly lower electricity costs. This installation makes the school a regional model for ecological transition and renewable energy adoption.

Beyond the energy savings, the project aims to educate and empower students to become active participants in sustainable solutions. By integrating environmental awareness into the school’s daily operations, the initiative fosters a new generation that understands and values sustainability.

In line with its commitment to education, Fondation Banque Populaire also donated 90 refurbished computers to the students, provided by Groupe BCP. These digital tools will enhance access to learning resources and improve the overall educational experience.

Through this dual initiative, Fondation Banque Populaire reaffirms its role as a key player in Morocco’s educational and social development. By combining innovation, inclusion, and sustainability, it aligns with Groupe BCP’s vision of building a better future together.

This project marks a significant milestone in making education greener, more modern, and more accessible. It stands as a strong testament to the idea that energy transition and social progress can go hand in hand.
