Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane recently hosted the third edition of the national robotics competition, AUROBAT 2024. This event saw the participation of around thirty teams hailing from various regions across Morocco.
Organized by the Innovation Center for Information Technologies for Human Development (CITI) and the Tawasol Association for Technology Development (ATDTec), the competition aims to inspire young minds to engage in robotics, unlock their innovative potential, and instill in them the values of fair play, teamwork, solidarity, knowledge sharing, environmental protection, and leadership.
Eleven university teams and nineteen others from middle and high schools across the Kingdom participated in this event, which focused on the theme of “designing a ladybug robot.”
The grand prize in the “seniors category” was awarded to the Mechatronics Club from Mohammedia, with the RoboReines team from Marrakech coming in second.
In the “juniors category,” the top three prizes were claimed by the teams “Great Idea” from Tiznit, “Coccibot,” and “College Senhaja” from Sefrou, respectively.
Additionally, two robotics professionals from the ATDTec association, Brahim Lakhdar and Saleh Hassouni, were honored during the event.
AUROBAT is organized either as part of class projects or through robotics and science clubs within educational institutions, according to the organizers.
