ALMA MMEP boosts Morocco’s water industry with Africa’s first PE100 line

In a bold display of industrial innovation, Morocco’s ALMA MMEP has officially inaugurated a new state-of-the-art production line for PE100 pipes at its Had Soualem facility. This milestone makes ALMA the first African manufacturer to produce NF-certified PE100 pipes with diameters up to 1,200 mm — an achievement hailed as a major breakthrough in the continent’s water infrastructure capabilities.

The launch event, attended by Youcef Fadil, Director General of Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, marks a strategic turning point for ALMA, which has grown into a key player in the manufacture of water meters, PVC and PE pipes for drinking water and sanitation networks.

The newly installed production line enables the manufacture of large-diameter pipes with NF (Norme Française) certification, a globally respected benchmark of quality. This positions ALMA MMEP not only as a pioneer in the African market but also as a reliable international supplier in the field of water infrastructure.

Founded in 1994, ALMA has become a national flagship in the design and production of complete systems for water distribution, treatment, and telecom networks. Its mission aligns with the Royal vision of ensuring equitable access to clean water across Morocco.

ALMA’s Had Soualem facility is equipped with high-performance technology and a strong production capacity to meet growing demand. In addition to manufacturing pipes, the facility also focuses on the assembly and calibration of precision water meters, helping utilities and municipalities manage water more efficiently.

As part of its innovation strategy, ALMA has invested €2 million in a double-wall extrusion machine, a technology unique in Africa and one of only seven in the world. This system allows seamless hot-line production of sanitation couplings with guaranteed watertightness, meeting the strictest environmental standards.

ALMA’s commitment to excellence, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety is supported by a robust management system. It is ISO 9001:2015 certified for quality, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental practices, and ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety. Its calibration lab is also accredited under NM ISO/IEC 17025:2018, ensuring high precision in water meter measurement.

With a production capacity of 27,000 tons, over 100 employees, and MAD 150 million in revenue for 2024, ALMA continues its expansion in Morocco and beyond. The company is also committed to developing young industrial talent, reinforcing its position as a future global reference in sustainable water transport.

“Together, let’s make every drop of water count,” affirms the company — a guiding principle as it tackles the twin challenges of climate resilience and infrastructure development.
