Once a flagship of Mohammedia’s hospitality scene, the Avanti Hotel is once again on the market. This 4-star establishment, previously owned by the now-defunct La Samir refinery, has been listed in a new call for interest by the court-appointed judicial trustee.
As one of the largest assets linked to La Samir, the Avanti Hotel plays a crucial role in the ongoing liquidation process of the former refinery. Since the court ordered its dissolution in 2016 due to massive debt accumulation, selling the hotel has become vital in restructuring the company’s assets and alleviating part of its financial burden.
Located along Morocco’s Atlantic coast, midway between Casablanca and Rabat, the Avanti Hotel boasts a prime strategic location. Its sale offers a significant opportunity to reinvigorate the tourism industry in Mohammedia, which has great potential but remains underdeveloped. For prospective investors, the hotel represents a chance to tap into this untapped market, drawing both business travelers and tourists to the region.
The starting price for the hotel has been set at 165 million dirhams, reflecting both its location and existing infrastructure. However, the buyer will need to invest significantly to modernize the facility and rebrand it in an increasingly competitive hospitality market. With Mohammedia still overshadowed by larger cities like Casablanca and Rabat, positioning the hotel as a premium destination will require strategic marketing and updates to its offerings.
The judicial trustee hopes that this renewed effort to sell the hotel will attract investors who are not only capable of revitalizing the property but also ensuring its operational continuity and safeguarding local jobs. Interested parties have until November 15 to submit their offers, providing a limited window for those eager to seize this opportunity.
