At an extraordinary session held in Rabat, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization has confirmed the countries that will represent the Arab world in its bid for a seat on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Morocco is among the selected nations, joining Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates in leading the joint candidacy.
The decision, which received unanimous backing from member states of the regional body, reflects a shared commitment to ensuring a unified and influential Arab presence within the ICAO’s key decision-making structures. The vote on Council membership is scheduled to take place this September in Montreal during the 42nd ICAO General Assembly.
Beyond the electoral strategy, the session also focused on expanding ties with other regional aviation blocs. The aim is to foster broader international cooperation, promote knowledge-sharing, and create stronger networks of mutual support across different regions.
Established under the umbrella of the Arab League, the Arab Civil Aviation Organization plays a central role in aligning air transport policies among member nations. Its mission is to strengthen regional coordination, develop joint strategies for the aviation sector, and amplify the Arab world’s collective voice on the global stage.
