From May 21 to June 7, the Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay will host one of the world’s leading voices in Ayurvedic wellness. Suraj Varma, a renowned Indian practitioner celebrated for his expertise in holistic therapies, is bringing his signature treatments to Morocco’s Mediterranean coast for an exclusive residency at the palace’s Medi-Spa.
This isn’t Varma’s first collaboration with the Royal Mansour brand—he’s previously worked at their prestigious locations in Marrakech and Casablanca. But this visit marks his debut at their newest property, a stunning seaside retreat in M’diq that opened in the summer of 2024. Set on a private beach overlooking the Mediterranean, the resort is already being hailed as a standout addition to Morocco’s luxury hospitality scene.
Hailing from Kerala—the birthplace of Ayurveda—Varma trained at the Ayurvedic Hospital in Coimbatore before rising through the ranks of international wellness circles. It was during his time at E’Spa in the UK that he created the “Holistic Balance” treatment, a signature therapy that gained him global acclaim. His career took a pivotal turn when Dr. Mosaraf Ali, founder of London’s prestigious Integrated Medical Centre, invited him to join his team. Since then, Varma has worked with some of the world’s top luxury hotels, blending ancient rituals with contemporary therapeutic techniques.
During his stay at Tamuda Bay, guests will have the opportunity to book personalized sessions that include deep-tissue Ayurvedic massages, reflexology treatments, and traditional Indian head massages. In addition, he will lead public masterclasses every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m., offering insight into the principles of Ayurveda and its modern applications.
The setting for this residency is as exceptional as the therapist himself. The Medi-Spa at Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay stands as Morocco’s first semi-medical wellness center. Spanning more than 4,000 square meters, it offers a rare blend of luxury and science-based care. Marble plunge pools, a salt cave, cryotherapy suites, and eight treatment rooms are just part of the experience. Each guest receives a personalized protocol aimed at sustaining wellness benefits long after their visit.
Opened in 2024 and part of the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World collection, the Tamuda Bay resort features 55 beachfront suites and villas. Guests are treated to round-the-clock butler service, cuisine curated by three Michelin-starred chefs, and a wide range of oceanfront activities—from high-adrenaline water sports to private yacht excursions. This residency by Suraj Varma adds yet another layer of depth to what is already one of Morocco’s most sophisticated escapes.
