On Thursday, November 21, BIM celebrated the launch of its fourth logistics platform in Morocco with an inauguration ceremony in Marrakech. The event was attended by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Haluk Dortluoğlu, CEO of BIM, underscoring the significance of this milestone in the retailer’s expansion strategy in the country.

Spanning an impressive 16,000 square meters, the new logistics center is strategically designed to meet the increasing supply chain demands of the Marrakech-Safi region. BIM highlighted that this state-of-the-art facility will streamline procurement and distribution operations, significantly reducing delivery times and logistical costs. This optimization will allow the company to maintain its commitment to offering customers the best value for money.

This logistics hub represents a strategic investment in a region with high potential, creating nearly 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. It also aims to boost the local and regional economy, reinforcing BIM’s long-term commitment to Morocco’s development.

During the ceremony, Haluk Dortluoğlu made a significant announcement: BIM has allocated a one-billion-dirham investment plan for Morocco over the next three years. This ambitious initiative underscores the importance of the Kingdom in the company’s global strategy.

The Marrakech platform is the first step in this broader investment plan, which includes the construction of three additional logistics centers by 2027. The plan also focuses on expanding BIM’s distribution network to new regions in Morocco and enhancing the skills of its workforce.

Minister Ryad Mezzour hailed the launch as a testament to BIM’s success in Morocco. He emphasized that the 150-million-dirham investment in the Marrakech platform reflects the group’s strategic vision to strengthen the competitiveness of Morocco’s retail sector. He also highlighted BIM’s commitment to sourcing locally, securing a significant portion of its supply chain through national producers.

Currently, BIM Maroc operates 770 stores across 60 cities, employing over 5,000 people. With this latest development, the company is well-positioned to continue its growth in the Moroccan market, supporting regional economies and advancing the retail sector with innovative and efficient supply chain solutions.

This latest logistics platform in Marrakech signals a new phase in BIM’s expansion, showcasing its dedication to sustainable growth and its role as a major player in Morocco’s retail landscape.
