In the first seven months of 2024, Morocco witnessed a business boom with the establishment of 54,643 new enterprises, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). Among these, 39,434 are structured as legal entities, while 15,209 are registered as individual business owners. This rapid growth signals a thriving entrepreneurial landscape across the country.
Looking at the types of businesses formed, most fall into two categories: legal entities, which account for 153 newly registered companies, and individual entities, with 290 new entries. On the regional front, Guelmim leads with 245 new companies, followed by Tan-Tan (143) and Sidi Ifni (55).
Breaking down the industries, commerce remains Morocco’s powerhouse, comprising 52.29% of the newly created companies. The services sector follows closely, holding a 12.79% share, alongside construction and real estate. Other sectors in the mix include transportation (7.44%), industry (5.73%), hospitality (4.20%), agriculture and fishing (2.48%), IT and communications (1.34%), and finance (0.95%). This distribution reflects Morocco’s commercial momentum, with emerging industries contributing to a diversified economy.
When it comes to business structure, the vast majority—64.1%—of newly registered companies are single-member limited liability companies. Standard limited liability companies comprise 34.6%, while general partnerships and public limited companies each make up 0.7%.
The regional distribution highlights Casablanca-Settat as the economic powerhouse, with 17,234 new companies—by far the most significant share. This is followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (7,822), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (6,399), and Marrakech-Safi (6,214). Other regions like Fez-Meknes, Souss-Massa, and Oriental have also seen substantial growth, collectively showing that Morocco’s business climate is bustling in almost every corner of the nation.
