Comediablanca 2025: Casablanca laughs — and the world listens

In a time when cultural industries are reinventing themselves, Comediablanca is stepping up with confidence. For its second edition, Casablanca’s flagship comedy festival, driven by the creative agency Tendansia, is turning heads with a bold vision: to shape Moroccan humor into a true force of cultural influence, innovation, and social cohesion.

For years, comedy in Morocco was seen purely as entertainment. Comediablanca is here to change that. “It’s time to recognize humor as a fully-fledged art form — with its own disciplines, professions, and structures,” declared co-founders Saad Lahjouji Idrissi and Myriam Bouayad during the press conference held on April 24. The mission is clear: scout emerging talent, support their development, and produce original comedic content with lasting impact.

This year’s edition introduces the “Comediablanca Village,” a lively, immersive space designed by artistic director Amir Rouani. More than a venue, it’s a creative district — complete with a local artisans’ market, chill zone, international food court, and an improvisation gaming arena. It’s a vibrant celebration of art, humor, and everyday life.

Comediablanca also shines behind the scenes. Through a partnership with the Hiba Foundation, the festival is launching a talent support program featuring artist residencies, masterclasses led by international professionals, and post-festival mentoring. The goal? To build a sustainable comedic ecosystem where young voices can grow and thrive.

Morocco’s cultural influence is growing — and Comediablanca is part of that momentum. Organizers are already exploring festival spin-offs in other Moroccan cities, and even in Africa and Europe. A long-term ambition? Creating a dedicated school for comic arts, placing Casablanca at the heart of the Francophone comedy scene.

With its inclusive vision, dynamic programming, and international outlook, Comediablanca is redefining what Moroccan comedy can be — and where it can go. The stage is set. The laughter is just beginning.
