A total of 6,863 new cases of coronavirus infection (Covid-19) and 9,188 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Friday.

The number of people who had the first shot is 18,162,608, while that of fully vaccinated people (1st and 2nd doses) amounts to 14,274,441, the ministry said in its daily report on the Covid-19 epidemiological situation.

The new figure brings to 843,357 the total number of contaminations since the first case reported in Morocco in March 2020. The number of people who have recovered has risen to 766,456, a recovery rate of 90.9%.

The new contaminations were identified in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (2,162), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (1,440), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (859), the Eastern region (513), Marrakech-Safi (383), Fez-Meknes (359), Souss-Massa (301), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (295), Draa-Tafilalet (198), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (136), Guelmim-Oued Noun (131) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (86).

As for deaths, their total number rose to 12,268 (fatality rate of 1,5%), with 92 new cases reported in the regions of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (14), Marrakech-Safi (14), Casablanca-Settat (12), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (10), Souss-Massa (10), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (9), the Eastern region (7), Fez-Meknes (6), Guelmim-Oued Noun (4), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (3), Draa-Tafilalet (2) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (1).

The number of active cases is 64,633, while severe or critical cases reached 2,499, of which 60 are placed under intubation.
