The number of candidate lists submitted nationwide for the election of members of the House of Representatives, under all local constituencies and regional electoral districts, amounts to 1,704, said a statement by the Minister of Interior.

According to the provisional data on the candidacies filed for the election of members of the House of Representatives, collected at the end of the period devoted to the filing of nomination papers, the number of lists of candidates submitted nationwide under all local constituencies and regional electoral districts amounts to 1,704, for a total of 6,815 applications, with a national average of more than 17 applications per seat, according to the same source

The number of candidate lists submitted for the local electoral districts is around 1,472 lists with 5,064 candidates, with an average of 17 candidacies per seat, compared to 4,742 in 2016. The number of candidacies for the regional electoral districts stands at 1,769, with an average of 20 candidacies per seat.

The number of women candidates registered for the election of members of the House of Representatives amounts to 2,329, or 34.17% of the total number of candidates, including 1,567 candidates in the regional electoral districts and 762 in the local electoral districts. A total of 97 lists of candidates presented in the local electoral districts are chaired by women candidates.

The number of candidates for parliamentary elections among the current members of parliament is 225, including 206 members of the House of Representatives and 19 of the House of Advisors.

The lists of candidates filed with accreditation of political parties for local and regional electoral districts are as follows:

– The Justice and Development Party (PJD), the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), the Istiqlal (PI) and the National Rally of Independents (RNI) submitted 92 lists with a total of 305 candidates each in the local constituencies, and 12 lists each (90 candidates each) in the regional constituencies.

– The Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) and the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) presented 91 lists each, with some 303 candidates for the USPF and 302 for the PPS at the local constituency level and 12 lists with a total of 90 candidates each at regional level.

– The Popular Movement (MP): 79 local electoral lists (275 candidates), 11 regional electoral lists (87 candidates).

– The United Socialist Party (PSU): 69 local electoral lists (245 candidates), 9 regional electoral lists (77 candidates).

– The Coalition of the Left Federation (CFG): 63 local electoral lists (226 candidates), 11 regional electoral lists (87 candidates).

– The Constitutional Union (UC): 62 local electoral lists (221 candidates), 10 regional electoral lists (82 candidates).

– The Moroccan Green Party: 57 local electoral lists (196 candidates), 7 regional electoral lists (49 candidates).

– The Front of Democratic Forces (FFD): 50 local electoral lists (176 candidates), 7 regional electoral lists (57 candidates).

– New Democrats Party (NEO): 50 local electoral lists (173 candidates), 8 regional electoral lists (60 candidates).

– The Reform and Development Party (PRD): 28 local electoral lists (98 candidates), 4 regional electoral lists (25 candidates).

– The Party of Rebirth and Virtue (PRV): 18 local electoral lists (63 candidates), 3 regional electoral lists (22 candidates).

– The Democratic Society Party (PSD): 17 local electoral lists (60 candidates), 5 regional electoral lists (33 candidates).

– National Democratic Party (PDN): 5 local electoral lists (21 candidates), 4 regional electoral lists (25 candidates).

– The Moroccan Union for Democracy (UMD): 14 local electoral lists (21 candidates), no regional electoral lists.

– Al Ahd Addimocrati Party: 1 local electoral list (3 candidates), no regional electoral list.

Within the framework of the general elections related to the election of members of the House of Representatives and members of councils of communes and districts and members of regional councils, scheduled for September 8, 2021, the period devoted to the filing of declarations of candidacy ended Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

This operation took place under normal conditions, marked by a significant influx of citizens compared to previous similar electoral consultations. The number of political bodies that took part in this operation amounts to 31 parties, including an alliance of parties founded on the occasion of these elections.

The number of candidacies for the legislative, communal and regional elections remains provisional until those who declared their candidacies during the last hours of the filing deadline receive the final receipt in accordance with the legal provisions in force.

The Minister of the Interior informs that the election campaign for the above-mentioned elections began at the first hour of Thursday, August 26, 2021 and will end on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at midnight.
