The coastal and artisanal fishing landings at Dakhla Port have seen a remarkable increase of 37% by the end of April this year, reaching a total of 30,179 tonnes, compared to 21,979 tonnes during the same period in 2023, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP).

The market value of these catches has also improved, rising by 17% to exceed 279.30 million dirhams (MDH), up from 237.89 MDH at the end of April 2023, as detailed in ONP’s latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco.

Pelagic fish landings have shown an impressive growth of 63% during the first four months of the current year, totaling 23,941 tonnes valued at 140.56 MDH, compared to 14,687 tonnes worth approximately 80.68 MDH during the same period in 2023.

Conversely, landings of white fish have decreased by 14% to 6,175 tonnes, with a value of over 129.28 MDH, down by 5% from more than 135.85 MDH/7,149 tonnes year-over-year.
