Moroccan healthTech startup DAWI has received the Innovative Young Company (JEI) label from the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and has been selected for the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) Lab Innova 2026 programme.
The JEI label is given to startups with strong innovation potential and gives them access to government support programmes.
Lab Innova 2026 will bring DAWI together with Italian healthcare companies during workshops in Casablanca in September. The programme will then continue in Rome in October at Meet in Italy for Life Sciences, an event focused on HealthTech, MedTech, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Founder and biomedical engineer Othmane Abouyahia said: “These two recognitions reflect international validation of Moroccan digital health innovation and open new collaboration avenues with global industry players.”
DAWI was founded by a team with expertise in biomedical engineering, medical biology and artificial intelligence. The company wants to help people spot health risks before they become serious diseases.
Its AI platform analyses more than 40 biological markers, including fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, LDL cholesterol, TSH, ferritin and vitamin D. The system can detect disease risks up to 10 years before symptoms appear.
The platform also offers a secure digital medical record where users can store prescriptions, laboratory results, vaccination records and health check-ins. Another tool creates a summary of each medical consultation that patients can easily share with doctors.
Users can also search for verified specialists, including cardiologists, dermatologists and paediatricians, in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier and Agadir.
DAWI says its health advice follows international medical guidelines, including ESC 2025, AHA/ACC 2024 and KDIGO 2024.
Subscriptions start at 2.7 Moroccan dirhams a day. The startup is also working with health insurers to reduce the cost of treating chronic diseases and with hospitals and clinics to help direct patients before their conditions become emergencies.
DAWI meets CNDP data protection rules in Morocco and follows ISO 27001 information security standards.
The startup is connected to MOHIM, the country’s national health data platform, allowing healthcare providers to share information more easily.
DAWI has also been backed by the Founder Institute accelerator, selected for the Morocco 300 initiative, and showcased its technology at GITEX Africa and GITEX Future Health Africa.
