The number of beneficiaries of the direct housing aid program reached 11,749 as of May 23, out of a total of 73,711 applications, stated the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson Mustapha Baitas, on Thursday.

In response to a question during a press briefing following the weekly Government Council meeting, Mr. Baitas explained that 43% of the beneficiaries are women, and 23% are Moroccans residing abroad, noting that 57% of the applications concern housing with costs ranging between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams.

Regarding the submitted applications, the minister noted that 90% of the registered requests meet the required conditions to benefit from this aid.

As for the ranking of beneficiaries by region, Mr. Baitas pointed out that the Fès-Meknès region leads with 35.9% of the satisfied applications, followed by Casablanca-Settat (34.54%), the Oriental region (6.5%), and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (around 4%).

Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the housing aid has contributed to the recovery of cement consumption, which increased by 21.11% between April 2023 and April 2024. He added that housing loans also grew by 1.4% between March 2023 and March 2024, while loans for real estate developers increased by 4.2% during the same period.

These significant figures reflect the enthusiasm and recovery spurred by this program, which also aims to contribute to the revival of the housing sector, concluded the minister.
