EasyJet is set to take a major leap in its operations across North Africa with the launch of its first-ever permanent base on the continent. Starting in spring 2026, the low-cost airline will station three aircraft year-round in Marrakech, marking a significant expansion supported by a strategic partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
The new base is expected to create around 100 direct jobs and several thousand indirect positions, as the airline scales up its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets. With this move, easyJet aims to reach a record-breaking four million seats in Morocco during the first year of operations from the base. The move will also strengthen the carrier’s position as the second-largest airline operating in Marrakech and solidify its standing as the third-largest in the country overall.
In conjunction with the launch, easyJet will introduce four new routes for the summer 2026 season. Hamburg, Lille, and Strasbourg will be connected directly to Marrakech, while a new Geneva–Tangier route will expand the airline’s reach in northern Morocco. Once these additions are live, the airline will operate a total of 46 routes to Morocco, 24 of which will serve Marrakech alone. The carrier also plans to increase flight frequencies on several existing routes to meet growing demand.
This expansion comes as easyJet marks two decades of service in Morocco, during which it has carried nearly 20 million passengers. Currently operating out of five Moroccan airports—Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier—the airline is positioning itself to better serve a diverse customer base, including business travelers, tourists, and members of the Moroccan diaspora.
For easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis, this development represents a major milestone. He emphasized that Morocco is now the group’s most dynamic market outside Europe. EasyJet already leads in passenger volume on flights departing from the UK and Switzerland to Morocco, and the new base is expected to accelerate that momentum even further.
