The enlightened vision and strategic initiatives of King Mohammed VI have ultimately yielded concrete and significant results for the national cause.
This is evidenced by a message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, from the President of France, His Excellency Emmanuel Macron. In this message, Macron officially announces to the Sovereign that he “considers that the present and future of Western Sahara fall within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty,” as stated by the Royal Cabinet in a communiqué on Tuesday.
In the same message, coinciding with the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day, the President of the French Republic assures His Majesty the King of “the immutability of the French position on this issue of national security for the Kingdom” and that his country “intends to act in coherence with this position both nationally and internationally.”
To this end, His Excellency President Emmanuel Macron affirmed that “for France, autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is the framework in which this issue must be resolved. Our support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 is clear and constant,” adding that this plan “now constitutes the only basis for achieving a just, lasting, and negotiated political solution, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.”
“Today, an increasingly broad international consensus is emerging,” notes the French head of state, regarding the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty, specifying that “France is fully participating in this in all relevant forums,” notably through its support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy. “It is time to move forward. I therefore encourage all parties to come together for a political settlement, which is within reach,” asserts President Macron in his message.
Furthermore, after commending Morocco’s efforts for the economic and social development of the Moroccan Sahara, the President of the French Republic committed that “France will support Morocco in this approach for the benefit of the local populations.”
This announcement by the French Republic, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, represents an important and significant development in support of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara. It fits into the dynamic driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve Him, and supported by many countries in different regions of the world, in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity and the autonomy plan as the exclusive framework for resolving this regional dispute.
