Renault Group Maroc is strengthening its local expertise with the appointment of Francisco José Martín Hernández as the new head of Renault Technologie Maroc (RTMA), the company’s engineering center in Morocco.

Starting March 1, Hernández will take on the challenge of developing a high-performing engineering hub capable of maximizing the potential of Renault’s manufacturing plants in Tangier and Casablanca (SOMACA). He will report to Cedric Combemorel, Deputy CTO – VP Global Engineering & Tech, while also working closely with Mohamed Bachiri, Managing Director of Renault Group Maroc. His role will involve fostering greater integration within the local ecosystem by collaborating with suppliers and engineering schools to develop specialized expertise that can support Renault’s global engineering centers and production sites.

Renault Technologie Maroc will be based in two locations. Its headquarters will be set up in Tétouan Offshore, focusing on technological advancements and positioning itself as a hub for innovation in “New Tech.” Meanwhile, a second center will be established within the Tangier plant to ensure close coordination with industrial operations and enhance collaboration between engineering and manufacturing teams.

Hernández, an industrial engineer with degrees from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the École Centrale de Lyon, joined Renault in 2002. Over the years, he has built a strong track record in product quality management and industrial system development, holding key positions in quality engineering and project management across both mechanical and vehicle engineering sectors. His career has taken him to Spain, Romania, and France, where he has worked with Horse, Renault Group, and Ampère. Before his move to Morocco, he served as Head of Vehicle Engineering at Renault Technologie Espagne and was also the liaison for Ampère within that division.
