A national programme teaching young people about artificial intelligence and connected technology is expanding to more cities, with a target of training 1,200 people each year from 2027. Génération AIoT was launched in February 2026 by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and ABA Technology.

The programme has received more than 2,118 applications. So far, 95 people have been selected in Salé and Casablanca.

The first group in Salé had 46 young people. They completed four months of basic training and moved to practical projects on 24 June. All 46 are now working on projects linked to healthcare, mining, industry, finance, logistics, scientific research, education and digital technology.

The programme is now expanding to Fès and Oujda. Casablanca will have three groups, while Fès and Oujda will each have two. Salé will continue to host a training centre.

The programme aims to reach its full capacity by February 2027 and train 1,200 people each year.

Training covers artificial intelligence, agentic AI, physical AI, robotics and the Internet of Things. The goal is to prepare young people for jobs that use these technologies in areas such as industry, healthcare and logistics.

The programme is part of the wider Maroc Digital 2030 strategy, which aims to train 100,000 digital professionals each year.

“For Morocco, strategic autonomy rests on the capacity to make informed choices, cooperate with confidence, maintain control over our data, secure our infrastructure, and direct technology towards our national priorities… It is in this spirit that Morocco is building what we call a third digital path. This path combines international openness with national governance,” said Amal El Fallah – Seghrouchni, minister delegate for digital transition and administrative reform.

El Fallah – Seghrouchni has also highlighted the role of open-source technology in building more independent AI systems.

“Open source plays an essential role in this vision. It strengthens transparency, promotes interoperability, facilitates auditing, and enables institutions to adapt the tools they use… In the field of artificial intelligence, this means considering the model’s weights, code, documentation, training conditions, and the effective rights granted to its users.”

Amer Benouda, vice-president of ABA Technology, said the programme needs people with different skills and backgrounds.

“We believe that multidisciplinarity is key and for each project we must find the right profiles from different backgrounds to ensure a high level of capability to meet industry and international standards… Three examples of the technologies that are reshaping all countries around the world include the AI of things (AIoT), computer vision, and data platforms.”

The programme’s longer-term goal is to train 20,000 AIoT graduates by 2030 and expand its network to 12 regions.
