Morocco has confirmed 9,428 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, while 1,766 Covid-19 patients have recovered, the ministry of Health said Wednesday.
The number of people vaccinated to date (1st dose) has reached 12,971,479 while 10,015,447 people have been fully vaccinated (1st and second dose), the ministry pointed out in its daily COVID-19 bulletin.
The total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak of the virus rises to 597,876 while the number of recoveries increases to 550,882 which corresponds to a recovery rate of 92.1%.
Regarding coronavirus-related deaths, they rose to 9,665 with twenty-seven new cases recorded in the past day in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (6), Souss-Massa (6), Marrakech-Safi (4), Fez-Meknes (3), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (3), Casablanca-Settat (2), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (1), Draa-Tafilalet (1) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1), the ministry said, adding that the fatality rate remains at 1.6%. The new COVID-19 cases were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (3,580), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (1,442), Marrakech-Safi (1,285), Souss-Massa (944), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (624), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (453), Draa-Tafilalet (345), the Oriental (233), Guelmim-Oued Noun (202), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (143), Fez-Meknes (135) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (42).
The number of active cases stands at 37,329 including 810 in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
