On Monday, the Royal Cabinet announced a series of high-profile appointments made by HM King Mohammed VI, reflecting a renewed push to strengthen key constitutional institutions in Morocco.

Abdelkader Amara has been named the new head of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council. Mohamed Benalilou has been appointed to lead the national body responsible for integrity, anti-corruption efforts, and promoting transparency. Meanwhile, Hassan Tariq will serve as the country’s new Ombudsman.

These appointments underscore HM the King’s commitment to empowering these institutions to fully carry out their constitutional roles. They also align with a broader effort to bolster good governance, deepen participatory democracy, and safeguard individual rights and freedoms.

The Royal Cabinet emphasized the significance of these independent institutions and the priority the Monarch places on their role in the national framework. The move aims to inject new momentum into their work, while also enhancing cooperation with other key national bodies involved in overseeing Morocco’s major reforms and development strategies.
