A significant milestone has been reached in Côte d’Ivoire’s housing development. The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a branch of the World Bank, has partnered with Addoha-Côte d’Ivoire (CI), a subsidiary of Moroccan real estate developer Douja Promotion Groupe Addoha, to strengthen the country’s supply of affordable housing. This collaboration involves a local currency loan equivalent to $27 million, aimed at financing the construction and delivery of 5,600 housing units in Greater Abidjan.
The official signing ceremony took place in Abidjan, attended by Côte d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, several government ministers, Moroccan Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire Abdelmalek Kettani, Addoha Group CEO Anas Sefrioui, and senior executives from IFC and Addoha-CI.
The project plans to build 4,600 units for middle- and lower-middle-income buyers, while approximately 1,000 units will be allocated to low-income households. The goal is to provide over 23,000 people with access to quality housing, helping to reduce Côte d’Ivoire’s structural housing deficit, particularly in Greater Abidjan.
Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé hailed this initiative as a significant breakthrough for the real estate sector in Africa, emphasizing that Côte d’Ivoire is not just building houses but creating a modern and inclusive living environment. He stressed that housing access is a key driver of economic growth and social well-being.
Minister of Construction, Housing, and Urban Planning Bruno Nabagné Koné highlighted Addoha’s central role in Côte d’Ivoire’s housing transformation. He commended the Moroccan group’s commitment to the government’s housing efforts, noting that such partnerships are essential to meeting national housing targets and addressing key sector challenges.
Anas Berrada, General Manager of Addoha-CI, stated that the group embraces a cooperative model based on solidarity, complementarity, and a shared vision for Africa’s development. He emphasized the historic and economic ties between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, underscoring that bilateral cooperation remains a catalyst for growth and mutual prosperity.
As part of Côte d’Ivoire’s presidential program to construct 30,000 housing units, Addoha has already delivered over 5,000 units across 15 housing projects, demonstrating its commitment to addressing the needs of various socio-economic groups.
IFC Vice President for Africa, Sergio Pimenta, reaffirmed that this investment reflects IFC’s commitment to supporting projects with a direct impact on sustainable development and improving living conditions in Côte d’Ivoire. He stressed the importance of attracting private investment to bridge the housing supply gap and drive socio-economic development.
Following the agreement, Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné met with Addoha CEO Anas Sefrioui and senior group officials, further confirming the strategic importance of this project for the country’s real estate sector.
With this financial support from IFC, Addoha-Côte d’Ivoire is taking a major step forward in its mission to democratize housing access, while also strengthening economic ties between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire within a dynamic and sustainable South-South cooperation framework.
