On Tuesday, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, inaugurated the “Code 212” center at Ibn Tofail University (UIT) in Kenitra. This initiative aims to enhance academic and educational offerings as part of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The “Code 212” center is a key component of the National Plan for Accelerating the Transformation of the ESRI Ecosystem (PACTE ESRI 2030). It is designed as a hybrid, multidisciplinary space where students can gain dual competencies aligned with labor market demands, particularly in coding, programming, big data, robotics, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence.
This state-of-the-art facility includes areas dedicated to artificial intelligence, robotics, coworking, coding, and a conference room, equipped with the latest technologies. It is open to all students seeking to strengthen their skills in these fields.
“The inauguration of the Code 212 center comes in response to the growing importance of digitalization and modern technologies,” stated Minister Miraoui in a press release, emphasizing the critical need for hybrid skills among students.
“All specialties are undergoing annual changes due to the introduction of new technologies, which makes mastering ITC essential for students to meet these challenges,” he added. The Minister also announced plans to roll out similar centers across all national universities, enabling students to acquire digital skills alongside their specializations.
Minister Miraoui highlighted the digitalization of university enrollment processes to facilitate student access and commended the efforts of UIT officials in ensuring students are welcomed in optimal conditions.
Mohamed Larbi Kerkeb, President of Ibn Tofail University, underscored the significance of the “Code 212” center’s launch, describing it as a pioneering initiative that will be expanded to all Moroccan universities. “This space is open to students from all disciplines and aims to democratize access to fields such as artificial intelligence, programming, and robotics,” he stated. He also noted that this center is a crucial link in promoting digitalization within Moroccan universities.
The Minister, accompanied by Kenitra Governor Fouad M’Hamdi and a significant ministerial delegation, reviewed the preparations for the 2024-2025 academic year, including the educational, scientific, and cultural facilities at UIT. During his visit, he closely examined the measures implemented to ensure a successful start to the academic year, including student support and the completion of projects under the PACTE ESRI 2030 initiative.
