The 2021 Japanese Grand Prix in Formula One was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers said on Wednesday.

“Following ongoing discussions with the promoter and authorities in Japan the decision has been taken by the Japanese government to cancel the race this season due to the ongoing complexities of the pandemic in the country,” the Formula 1 statement read.

The 2021 Japanese GP was due to be held on October 10 at Suzuka International Racing Course.

Last year’s edition was not run for the same reason.
