Vaccination of children does not present any danger to their health, said the head of the Pediatric Society – Rabat branch, Khalid Bouhmouch, calling on parents to consult accredited doctors in the vaccination centers, to read international scientific studies, and to stay away from fake news posted on social media.

Bouhmouch, who was the guest, on Tuesday morning, of the Moroccan radio channel “RIM RADIO”, said that the data, information and scientific studies carried out on this matter confirm that the vaccination protects the child and increases its immunity up to 100%.

He noted that the vaccination campaign for pupils aged 12 to 17 will make it possible to achieve collective immunity and to return to a normal life, adding that the objective of the vaccination of this age group, which started this Tuesday at the national level, is to protect children and their parents and ensure the resumption of in-person classes in safe conditions.

The classic strain of “Covid-19” rarely affects children, but the “delta” variant has changed the data available to pediatricians, given that the number of cases has increased in this age group, as well as the symptoms, noted the pediatrician.

Bouhmouch explained that studies conducted in the United States, Europe and China have shown that vaccination is safe for this age group, adding that the vaccination of children began in the middle of May in the United States for a total of 7 million children in this age category, while the vaccination rate for children reached 68% in Belgium and 55% in France.

Regarding the possibility for parents to choose between the vaccine “Sinopharm” or “Pfizer”, Dr Bouhamouche stressed that the choice of the vaccine is not an important question in itself, because it is a question of understanding the importance of vaccination as well as the fact that it protects the child against diseases and that it will help achieve collective immunity.
