La Mamounia in Marrakech is preparing a busy autumn, with Michelin-starred chefs, a new spa brand, an art exhibition, new boutique names and a new way of serving water. The luxury hotel will host three special dinners on 6, 7 and 8 October, bringing together French chefs Emmanuel Renaut and Olivier Nasti.
Renaut, chef of the three-Michelin-starred Flocons de Sel in Megève, will host the first dinner on 6 October. He is also a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, one of France’s top professional titles for skilled craftspeople.
Nasti, chef of the two-Michelin-starred Le Chambard in Kaysersberg, will join Renaut for a four-hands dinner on 7 October. Nasti, who is also a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, will lead the final dinner on 8 October.
Pastry chef Pierre Hermé will create the dessert for all three evenings.
The dinners start at 8pm and have a limited number of places.
The spa will introduce Austrian wellness and skincare brand Susanne Kaufmann on 1 October. The brand will be available exclusively at La Mamounia in Morocco.
Susanne Kaufmann is known for its use of botanical ingredients, natural rhythms and a broad approach to skincare and wellness. The partnership also fits with the hotel’s large historic gardens and its focus on nature.
The spa will host two other specialists this autumn. Massage specialist Martine de Richeville will be there on 20 and 21 October. Facial-care expert Jeanne Casimir will take over on 17 and 18 November.
Art will also be part of the programme.
French artist Élisabeth Busson will present an exhibition at the hotel from 15 October to 15 November. The exhibition focuses on craftsmanship and “Haptillism”, an approach that encourages people to experience art through both sight and touch.
Her relief works on Plexiglas will be displayed in the lobby, with a focus on the role of the hand and the way materials can create different sensations.
La Mamounia is also adding new names to its boutiques.
Marrakchi Life will join a selection of Moroccan and international fashion, art and lifestyle brands. The list includes Dior, New Tangier, Karim Tassi, Béatrice Paul, Assouline and Khalid Art Gallery.
La Boutique La Mamounia will also welcome Tartine et Chocolat with its “Feuillage Vert” collection. Other projects include collaborations with Zyne, Assouline’s book La Mamounia and a signature perfume created with Fragonard.
The hotel is also changing how it serves water.
A new system supplied by French company Castalie now micro-filters still and sparkling water on site. The water is served in reusable glass bottles carrying La Mamounia’s branding.
The system is designed to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles and forms part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility efforts.
The autumn programme reflects a wider trend in luxury hotels, which are using restaurants, wellness, art, shopping and sustainability to give guests more reasons to visit and return.
