A dinner with friends goes badly wrong in Le Rôti, a new comedy coming to Casablanca on 15 October 2026. Written by Amanda Sthers and directed by Benjamin Elharrar, the play will be staged at the Studio des Arts Vivants at 8pm on Thursday, 15 October, as the new theatre season gets underway in September.

The story starts with a simple dinner party. One guest refuses to eat the main dish, roast pork. The decision soon creates awkward moments and arguments, bringing out different beliefs, personal biases and secrets that the friends had kept hidden.

The play uses comedy to look at everyday prejudice, modern hypocrisy and social tensions. Sharp dialogue and quick exchanges drive the story as the polite atmosphere at the dinner table slowly falls apart.

Le Rôti is described as a contemporary comedy that combines social satire with boulevard comedy. It does not mainly rely on traditional bedroom farce or physical slapstick. Instead, it places the characters in an ordinary social situation and uses the growing tension between them as the main source of humour.

The refusal to eat the dish is the turning point. A question that could be linked to dietary or religious beliefs opens a wider argument about political correctness, personal opinions and hidden prejudices. The characters are then forced to face contradictions in their own views.

The aim is to make audiences laugh while showing familiar tensions that can emerge between friends and in everyday social situations.

The cast includes Samy Berry, Vanessa Fery, Audrey David, Valentin Giard and Guillaume Carcaud. Nader Boussandel and Virginie de Clausade have also performed in the production, depending on the date and touring cast.

The Casablanca show will take place at the Studio des Arts Vivants, 38 Boulevard Abdelhadi Boutaleb, at 8pm on 15 October.
