The Lebanese military said on Saturday that they will distribute gasoline to people from the closed filling stations for free amid the unprecedented nationwide fuel crisis.

“The military will enter the closed gas filling stations and confiscate all the gasoline from reservoirs. The gasoline will be immediately distributed among the citizens free of charge,” the army said on Twitter.

Gasoline prices are expected to continue rising after the Bank of Lebanon decided to no longer subsidize fuel, according to an announcement made by the bank governor, Riad Salameh, on Wednesday.
