Visitors to Taghazout Bay can now stay at Marriott’s first resort in Morocco after the hotel group officially opened the new property on 1 July. The Taghazout Bay Marriott Resort is also Marriott International’s first hotel in Taghazout Bay. It adds to the growing number of high-end hotels in the coastal destination, located a few kilometres north of Agadir.

The opening increases Taghazout Bay’s accommodation capacity to 4,800 beds. The destination has been developed as a year-round resort focused on sport, wellness, nature and family activities, attracting both Moroccan and international visitors.

The resort has 250 rooms, including 29 suites. Every room comes with a private terrace or balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the gardens or the swimming pools.

The hotel’s design is inspired by Morocco’s Atlantic coast. It uses natural materials, handcrafted textiles, raw wood and decorations made by Moroccan artisans.

At the centre of the resort is Marriott Hotels’ Greatroom, an open space where guests can meet, relax or work.

The hotel has three main restaurants. Rivage serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes, Salt and Lime offers poolside dining, while Brasa specialises in grilled food overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Guests also have access to four outdoor swimming pools, landscaped gardens, two padel courts, outdoor seating areas and a fitness centre.

Later this summer, the resort plans to open a Kids’ Club and a spa offering wellness treatments.

The hotel is also targeting conferences, meetings and private events. Its 450 square metre ballroom can host up to 540 guests, alongside several meeting rooms.

Denis Laus, General Manager of the Taghazout Bay Marriott Resort, said the opening reflected Taghazout Bay’s growth as an international destination focused on wellness and modern coastal living.

Ronny Maier, Regional Vice President for Southern Europe and Northwest Africa at Marriott International, said the opening was “a major milestone for Marriott Hotels in Morocco” and showed the company’s confidence in Morocco’s tourism sector.
