Morocco has signed a deal that will make it easier for military personnel and their families to access hospital care. The agreement was signed in Rabat between the Directorate of Mutual Insurance of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health. It gives members of the armed forces access to the Foundation’s full hospital network.

The change is designed to simplify access to specialist treatment. Military beneficiaries will now be able to use the Foundation’s hospitals, medical teams and equipment, which are among the most advanced in Morocco.

The new agreement means military families will now be able to use these facilities as well.

The deal is part of a wider government plan to expand social protection across the country. It aims to bring military health coverage into the broader national health system and make services more joined up.

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health has been building large university hospital centres that combine treatment with medical training and research.

The reform is also tied to a wider move to digitise health services. A shared medical data system is expected to be used so patients can move between providers more easily and with less paperwork.

The agreement is also expected to support medical training. The Foundation runs health science universities, and closer links with military healthcare will give students more experience with different types of patients, including armed forces personnel.
