Moroccan airports welcomed a record 15,104,579 passengers in the first six months of 2024, marking a 19% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).
This significant growth was observed across most airports, with Rabat-Salé seeing a 40% increase, Agadir 34%, Marrakech 29%, Tétouan 23%, Tangier 21%, and Fès 12%.
The domestic passenger traffic reached 1,531,191 in the first half of this year, reflecting a 22% improvement compared to the same period in 2023.
International air traffic also saw a 19% rise compared to the first half of 2023, with 13,573,388 passengers. This growth is attributed to strong performances in the European market (+20%), African market (+16%), and Middle and Far Eastern markets (+15%).
ONDA also reported 111,783 aircraft movements by the end of June, a 15% increase from the same period last year. Mohammed V Airport accounted for 35% of this traffic, Marrakech Menara for 26%, and Agadir Al Massira for 9%.
Air freight experienced a significant boost, with a 24% increase, reaching 46,209 tonnes in the first half of 2024.
