Two teams of Moroccan students have won global awards at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026, one of the world’s biggest technology contests for university students. The students, from the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT), took home third-place prizes at the competition’s global final, which was held in Shenzhen, China, from 2 to 5 June.

The Moroccan teams competed against students from dozens of countries after making it through several rounds of national and regional qualifiers.

One team, called ESPOIR, won third place in the Innovation category. The students developed an artificial intelligence solution that uses cloud technology and data analysis to help tackle digital transformation challenges.

A second team, Atlas Lions, secured third place in the Cloud category after demonstrating their ability to design and manage complex cloud computing systems.

The competition attracted more than 220,000 students and teachers from over 2,000 universities across more than 100 countries and regions. Only 177 teams from 49 countries reached the final stage in China.

Huawei Morocco said the results show the growing strength of Morocco’s young technology talent.

“The participation of two Moroccan teams at the global final of the Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026 in China illustrates the exceptional potential of the Kingdom’s young talents and their capacity to evolve in ultra-high-level technological environments,” said Anis Liu, Vice President of Huawei Morocco.

“We are proud to support, alongside the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, students who truly embody the future of digital in Morocco through their rigor, creativity, and drive to transform acquired skills into concrete solutions.”

The students received training and support through Huawei’s E-Talent platform and Huawei Cloud tools as part of the company’s Digitech Talent programme.
