Morocco and Switzerland have officially sealed a strategic partnership to strengthen intellectual property protection and promotion. The initiative, named Swiss PartnershIP Morocco, was launched on February 14, 2025, at the headquarters of the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC) in Casablanca. Attended by key industry figures, the program is backed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and executed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. With a budget of 17.2 million dirhams, the project will span four years.
This initiative aims to modernize Morocco’s intellectual property ecosystem, equipping creators, entrepreneurs, and inventors with more effective tools to protect and capitalize on their intangible assets—both locally and internationally. The project focuses on improving the legal framework, strengthening protection services to secure creators’ rights, raising awareness among businesses and innovators, and enhancing enforcement mechanisms to combat infringement and piracy.
By fostering closer collaboration between Moroccan and Swiss institutions, the program seeks to create a more innovation-friendly and competitive environment. Entrepreneurs and creatives will benefit from improved protection of their work, allowing them to fully leverage their innovations in an increasingly knowledge-driven economy.
The launch of Swiss PartnershIP Morocco marks a significant step in deepening bilateral ties between the two nations. As Morocco continues its digital transformation, strengthening its intellectual property framework is essential to aligning with global economic and technological trends. With this initiative, Morocco moves closer to becoming a regional hub for innovation and creativity, ensuring that its businesses and inventors have the necessary legal safeguards to thrive in an increasingly competitive global market.
