Rabat has made history by hosting the FIFA Emergency Medicine Course – Advanced Level, marking a first for both Morocco and the African continent. This high-level medical training program, focused on emergency response in sports, was organized by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS) in collaboration with FIFA. Over the course of four days, from March 10 to 13, 2025, doctors and emergency specialists gathered at the FM6SS headquarters for an intensive training session designed to enhance their expertise in handling on-field medical crises.

With Morocco preparing to host several major sporting events between 2025 and 2030, the significance of this training cannot be overstated. The program aims to equip healthcare professionals with the critical skills needed to manage emergencies during matches, ensuring swift and effective interventions. Participants included medical professionals from FM6SS, the Moroccan Society of Emergency Medicine (SMMU), specialists from Morocco’s football ecosystem, and experts from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The training was built around hands-on simulations and the use of specialized medical equipment, enabling attendees to develop the quick reflexes essential for responding to severe injuries or sudden cardiac arrests on the field. This practical approach ensured that participants could apply their knowledge in real-time scenarios, reinforcing their ability to act under pressure.

This event marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time FIFA has hosted such an advanced-level course in Morocco or anywhere in Africa. It highlights the growing recognition of FM6SS’s Health and Sports division as a key player in strengthening medical expertise in the region. Moreover, the initiative underscores Morocco’s commitment to prioritizing sports medicine and ensuring optimal medical care for athletes.

By welcoming this groundbreaking program, Morocco is further solidifying its position as a leader in African sports development, merging top-tier performance with cutting-edge medical expertise to create a safer and more professional sporting environment.
