The Ministry of Health has opened an investigation into the death of a young woman in Marrakech on Monday after receiving a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. After receiving doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a vaccination operation has targeted, since last Sunday, some 5,000 people, including tourism employees in Casablanca, Marrakech and Agadir, the ministry of Health said Tuesday in a statement.

However, the services of the ministry were informed of the death of a 33-year-old woman at the Bab Ighli Cultural Center in Marrakech, after receiving a dose of the vaccine on Monday, and of the fainting of one of her colleagues, the source added. The ministry says it has immediately opened an investigation and sent a commission to Marrakech to investigate the incident.

The dedicated pharmacovigilance system has ensured, since the launch of the national vaccination operation, the monitoring of any side effects or incidents coinciding with this operation, the ministry pointed out, adding that it will publish the results of the investigation.
