A total of 5,494 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) infection and 1,604 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the Health ministry said Saturday.
The number of people who had the first shot is 11,728,171, while the number of people who have been fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd doses) stands at 9,794,265, the ministry said in its daily bulletin on the situation of Covid-19.
The new cases bring to 575,162 the total number of infections since the first case was reported in Morocco in March 2020. The number of people who have recovered has risen to 542,078, representing a cure rate of 94.2%.
As for deaths, their total number rose to 9,559 (lethality 1.7%), with 23 new fatalities recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (5), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (4), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (4), Souss-Massa (4), Marrakech-Safi (3), Fez-Meknes (2) and Daraa-Tafilalet (1).
The new infections were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (2,494), Marrakech-Safi (708), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (654), Souss-Massa (487), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (292), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (247), Daraa-Tafilalet (202), Fez-Meknes (126), the Eastern region (113), Guelmim-Oued Noun (89), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (44) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (38).
There are 23,525 active cases, while severe or critical cases have reached 616, including 18 under intubation.
