Morocco’s women’s national football team has held onto its 59th position in the latest FIFA rankings, released on Friday, remaining firmly in the top three on the African continent.

Despite missing out on the recent Paris 2024 Olympic tournament, which was factored into the FIFA rankings, the Atlas Lionesses continue to rank third in Africa, trailing behind South Africa (50th) and Nigeria (36th).

On the global stage, the United States reclaimed the top spot, jumping four places thanks to their Olympic triumph. England moved up one position to second place, while Spain dropped to third.

The next FIFA rankings for women’s national teams will be published on December 20.
