Nasser Bourita pushes for regional unity at Arab League meeting in Cairo

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita was in Cairo on Thursday to attend the 164th session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers, a key diplomatic gathering under the Arab League. The high-level meeting brought together representatives from across the region to review pressing regional challenges and explore ways to deepen coordination among member states.

On the sidelines of the session, Bourita joined a meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with monitoring Israel’s controversial activities in Jerusalem. The committee focuses on safeguarding the city’s political and religious status while organizing unified diplomatic responses to reported violations.

During his visit, Bourita also held bilateral talks with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Aaty. The two diplomats reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation across strategic sectors. They emphasized their shared views on regional crises—particularly the situation in Palestine—and reiterated the importance of joint action to address them.

The conversation also turned to Africa, where both Morocco and Egypt are advocating for a more dynamic, unified continental approach. They discussed the evolving role of the African Union and its responsibilities in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development across a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape.
