New inwi-Huawei network promises stronger signal on trains and highways

People travelling on Morocco’s high-speed trains and major highways will soon get faster and more reliable mobile connections after inwi and Huawei rolled out new network technology along the country’s main transport routes.

The companies have commercially deployed a 1.8 GHz + 2.1 GHz dual-band 8T8R solution powered by Huawei’s HyperBeamforming technology. They said the system delivers a 13 dB coverage gain over older 2T2R networks, extends coverage by nearly one kilometre, increases average download speeds by 83%, and supports 3.2 times more active users.

The upgrade is part of inwi’s work to improve mobile coverage along key transport corridors and provide a more stable connection for customers while they travel.

The new solution combines dual-band 8T8R technology with high-gain Hertz antennas. HyperBeamforming creates more focused radio beams, reducing signal interference and increasing coverage from a single site by 30%.

The technology also reduces the need to build additional mobile sites by filling coverage gaps between existing ones. The companies said this cuts deployment costs while improving network performance and supporting the country’s digital transformation.
