New York honored Rachida Chellal on Wednesday for her inspiring work as president of the Moroccan American House Association (MAHA). During a ceremony organized by the Society of Foreign Consuls (SOFC), she was recognized for her dedication to empowering women, receiving a certificate of recognition alongside awardees from 14 different countries.

A prominent figure in the Moroccan community in the United States, Chellal has devoted herself to supporting immigrant women, particularly those who have recently arrived in New York. Through awareness campaigns, training programs, and integration initiatives, she helps them adapt to American society while preserving their cultural heritage.

Under her leadership, MAHA has become a crucial resource for Moroccan women in the diaspora, especially in Brooklyn, where many families rely on the organization for support, guidance, and community connections.

The award from SOFC—an organization founded in 1925 that represents one of the world’s largest diplomatic communities—recognizes the determination and influence of women committed to social change. Held at the Consulate General of India in New York, the event highlighted the vital role women play in advancing gender equality and fundamental rights.
