Swedish medical technology company Nosa Plugs is entering the Moroccan market through a new deal with pharmaceutical company Polymedic.
Polymedic will have exclusive rights to distribute two Nosa Plugs products, Nozoil Original and Nozoil Menthol, in Morocco.
The products cannot be sold yet. They first need to be registered with Moroccan health authorities. Nosa Plugs expects the process to take between two and four months.
Polymedic has already placed an initial order worth 500,000 Swedish crowns (SEK), about $48,000 or MAD 460,000. The order will provide stock for the launch.
Nozoil is a nasal spray made from 100% pure natural sesame oil, which is rich in vitamin E. The products are free from preservatives and additives.
The sprays are designed to moisturise dry and irritated nasal passages and create a protective barrier. They are aimed at problems linked to dry air, pollution, allergies and air conditioning.
The products also support the natural function of nasal cilia, the tiny hairs that help clear dust and other particles from the nose.
The deal is part of Nosa Plugs’ wider expansion in the Middle East and North Africa. The company is using local pharmaceutical partners to enter new markets.
Polymedic will provide the local distribution network needed to bring the products to pharmacies and other points of sale once registration is completed.
The agreement also adds two natural, non-medicated nasal care products to Polymedic’s portfolio. Demand for preventive and over-the-counter health products has grown as consumers look for products that can help protect against pollution, dust and allergens.
The partnership also shows how medical technology companies from Nordic markets are using local business partners to enter markets in Africa and the Middle East.
Nosa Plugs develops medical and hygiene products for clinical, workplace and everyday use. Its portfolio includes nasal products designed for odour control as well as Nozoil nasal sprays.
The exclusive agreement and initial order were disclosed on 23 September by Le Nouvelliste Maroc. The deal marks Nosa Plugs’ planned entry into the North African market through Morocco.
