OCP S.A., a world leader in phosphate products for plant and animal nutrition, has signed a definitive agreement under which OCP will initially acquire 50% of GlobalFeed S.L. from Fertinagro Biotech S.L., a leading Spanish fertilizer producer.
GlobalFeed, which operates in the animal nutrition segment, manufactures and distributes a wide range of products, including convenience phosphate products and premium, high value solutions for several species. The Company has flexible production located in Huelva, Spain, with a capacity of 200,000 tons of products based on phosphates and 30,000 of products based on ferric sulphate and has an extensive international commercial presence.
The animal nutrition market has seen a worldwide sustained development in the last few years due to the intensification of animal husbandry, and the need to satisfy the nutritional preferences of the population, which are increasingly oriented towards meat and high-protein products, particularly in emerging countries.
In this context, this operation will contribute to OCP’s strategy to grow in the market of phosphates for animal feed, while expanding geographically its presence and offering a diversified innovative product portfolio.
