OCP hits 5 million ton milestone with precision TSP rollout

OCP Nutricrops has reached a critical turning point, surpassing the five-million-ton mark in Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) production—a milestone driven by the rollout of its TSP Hub, a flagship component in the company’s vision for customized fertilization. Positioned as the centerpiece of OCP’s strategy to align fertilizer output with the diverse and evolving needs of modern agriculture, the TSP Hub reflects a shift toward precision, responsiveness, and sustainability in global food production.

Located at the Jorf Lasfar industrial site, the TSP Hub is designed to combine large-scale manufacturing with flexible, crop-specific output. The facility uses an advanced process that allows for the precise integration of nutrients and additives tailored to different types of soil and crops. This approach enables OCP to meet the demands of a farming sector increasingly focused on productivity and environmental responsibility.

The initiative is a joint effort involving OCP Nutricrops, SBU Manufacturing, OFAS, and engineering partner JESA. Together, they’ve launched two initial production lines, each with the capacity to deliver 500,000 tons of TSP annually. This expansion brings the group’s total TSP output to more than five million tons per year and marks a major step forward in OCP’s broader move toward made-to-order fertilizer solutions.

Triple Super Phosphate, a highly phosphorus-rich fertilizer, plays a crucial role in correcting soil nutrient deficiencies and aligns with the 4R principles of smart fertilization: applying the right source, at the right rate, at the right time, and in the right place. With its new capabilities, OCP is now in a stronger position to offer tailored products that address the local realities of farmers worldwide, from large agricultural hubs to smallholder plots.

Building on this momentum, OCP has also kicked off a major upgrade of its nitrogen fertilizer units. The aim is to adapt these facilities to produce TSP as well, raising total production capacity to more than seven million tons by the end of 2025. This expansion is part of a broader modernization of OCP’s industrial infrastructure, designed to increase flexibility, boost performance, and maintain the group’s leadership in the global phosphate fertilizer market.

Youssef El Bari, CEO of OCP Nutricrops, sees this latest development as a powerful affirmation of the group’s commitment to offering high-value fertilizers tailored to real-world agronomic needs. Ahmed Mahrou, General Manager of SBU Manufacturing, describes it as a structural transformation—one that places reactivity, product diversity, and long-term value at the heart of OCP’s production model.

The project has been managed through a cross-functional governance system and involved over 1,200 personnel on-site. True to the group’s environmental commitments, the entire operation is built on the exclusive use of non-conventional water sources, reinforcing OCP’s long-standing dedication to sustainable resource management.
