Morocco’s travel sector posted solid results in the first quarter, generating 24.63 billion dirhams in revenue by the end of March, according to the latest data from the Foreign Exchange Office. This marks a modest year-over-year increase of 2.4%, or roughly 579 million dirhams more than in the same period last year.
Spending by Moroccan travelers abroad also rose, climbing 4.8% to reach 7 billion dirhams. Despite this uptick, the country’s travel balance remained strongly positive, with a surplus of more than 17.62 billion dirhams—an annual improvement of 1.5%.
Meanwhile, remittances from Moroccans living overseas saw a slight decline. By the end of March, money transfers from abroad totaled 26.22 billion dirhams, down from 27.96 billion over the same stretch in 2024.
