Following the Board of Directors meeting on July 22, 2024, during which Stellantis finalized the acquisition of Sopriam, a subsidiary of the Al Mada group, Yves Peyrot des Gachons was named Managing Director of Sopriam.
Simultaneously, Samir Cherfan, Stellantis’ Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa, was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sopriam during the same meeting.
This acquisition aligns with Stellantis’ strategy to develop the automotive industry in Morocco. The group already operates a plant in Kénitra, which is set to double its production capacity by 2027, and a technical center in Casablanca. Stellantis aims to achieve an annual production capacity of one million vehicles by 2030, with significant local integration.
The acquisition of Sopriam will also enable Stellantis to offer a unified and enhanced customer experience across Morocco, providing access to a broader range of vehicles and innovative mobility solutions.
