Global environmental services group SUEZ has announced the appointment of Soufiane Jakani as the new CEO of its Moroccan subsidiary—a move that underscores the company’s ambitions for deeper growth and impact in the country. He takes over from Benjamin Vauthier, who is stepping down to pursue new professional opportunities outside the group.

According to Yves Rannou, interim Co-CEO of SUEZ and head of the Recycling & Recovery Division, Jakani’s strong background in waste management and his deep understanding of the Moroccan market make him ideally suited for the role. “We have full confidence in his ability to lead Morocco’s environmental transition while supporting SUEZ’s continued expansion in the region,” Rannou said.

Jakani’s rise within SUEZ has been swift and strategic since he joined the company in 2019. He began by overseeing financial operations for the Hazardous Waste Business Unit and, in 2022, was promoted to Deputy CEO with responsibility for Finance and Development. His new role is not only a recognition of his leadership and expertise but also a signal of the group’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Morocco with leaders who understand both the global vision and local realities.

With academic credentials from ISCAE and Neoma Business School, Jakani brings over 13 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, consulting, and auditing—across both industrial sectors and major consulting firms, in Morocco and abroad. His multifaceted background positions him well to navigate the complexities of the environmental services industry in a rapidly evolving market.

His appointment comes at a pivotal moment for SUEZ in Morocco. The company is entering a phase of accelerated development, aiming to scale its operations in water and waste services. At the heart of this strategy is a focus on innovative circular economy solutions tailored to meet the increasing demands of local communities and industrial players alike.
