In a renewed spirit of bilateral cooperation, Morocco and Cape Verde are moving forward with joint efforts to develop their tourism sectors. Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, hosted Orlando Pereira Dias, President of the Morocco–Cape Verde Parliamentary Friendship Group, along with a large Cape Verdean delegation, for a working visit in Rabat.

Held from April 12 to 18, this visit reflects the growing momentum of South-South cooperation and the diplomatic strengthening between the two nations. Recent diplomatic milestones include the opening of Cape Verde’s embassy in Rabat, Morocco’s embassy in Praia, and Cape Verde’s consulate in Dakhla—symbols of a robust and strategic partnership.

Tourism cooperation was at the heart of the discussions. Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to sharing its tourism expertise and welcoming more Cape Verdean students into its training institutions in hospitality and tourism management.

Cape Verde expressed strong support for the Atlantic Vision championed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and acknowledged Morocco’s key role in African development and global peacebuilding.

The meeting is part of Morocco’s broader approach to sectoral diplomacy, which includes the recent signing of a host agreement with UN Tourism to open the first thematic office for innovation in Africa—scheduled to launch in Marrakech. This initiative reinforces Morocco’s position as a leading platform for continental cooperation.
