AUSIM names Bourse de Casablanca executive as president

The Association des Utilisateurs des Systèmes d’Information (AUSIM) au Maroc has elected Mohamed Saad as its president for 2026 to 2028.

The decision was taken at a general meeting held in Casablanca. Mr Saad is Deputy CEO of the Bourse de Casablanca. He takes over from Hicham Chiguer.

His election comes as Morocco pushes ahead with its national digital plan, Maroc Digital 2030. The strategy aims to modernise public services, grow the digital economy and make the country a regional tech hub.

Mr Saad said he wants the association to play a bigger role in shaping Morocco’s digital future. Under the theme “Bold, Brave, Forward”, he plans to make AUSIM not just a networking group but an active voice in national digital decisions.

AUSIM has been operating for more than 30 years. It brings together IT directors and digital leaders from large companies and public institutions. The group often works with government bodies on digital policies and reforms.

Morocco is halfway through its Maroc Digital 2030 plan. Major topics include improving online public services, supporting start-ups and strengthening digital skills.

Other pressing issues include data sovereignty and building local cloud infrastructure. Cybersecurity is also a growing concern as more services move online.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used by Moroccan companies. The challenge now is to use it responsibly and effectively.

AUSIM is expected to help members share experience and adapt to these fast changes.

Mr Saad will be supported by a new executive board.

Mohamed Essaidi from the Caisse Marocaine des Retraites becomes Secretary General. Rachid Baarbi from Assurances Lyazidi & Fils takes on the role of Treasurer.

The board also includes representatives from the Fondation Mohammed VI, Concentrix, Les Eaux Minérales d’Oulmès, Ciments du Maroc, Pepsi VBM, the Regional Investment Centre of Marrakech-Safi, Orange Maroc and Groupe Managem.
